Weddingbee ideas
It would be cool to be able to chat with other Weddingbee users in real time, either through a chatroom or through Weddingbee IM. Perhaps the chat capacity that is used for BeeTV could be open all the time for chatting. I imagine the IM as something analogous to Facebook IM, internal to the site.
When I see that someone has posted just a few minutes before me, especially someone whose wisdom I've read nearly every day over the past year, I know we're using the site at the same time, and I can't help but imagine them, sitting at their computer somewhere far away (or maybe nearby!) and I want to reach out and say hello!
I really love this idea. I have thought the same thing. There is so many of us on here at the sametime it would be nice to be able to talk about things as they are happening. Plus have a DIY emergency just hop on the chat!
Could you not have like hostess that do that? Surely there is enough of us that most of the time could be covered.
Re: policing the chat---how do you police the chat when you have BeeTV? I think people are pretty adept at self-policing for inappropriate comments and self-promotion, and the hostesses would definitely help.
To make it more secure, you could require chatters to have a weddingbee account in order to chat. Also, would it be possible to "hide" users? So if someone is driving you crazy, you can just hide their comments?
There is always a Bee or two in the Bee TV chatrooms, and Mrs. Bee or myself make it a point to be around as well. A 24 hour chatroom would make it harder to maintain coverage... maybe the room would only work if there was a Hostess or Bee active in the chatroom?
We've actually had problems with vendors spamming Bee TV in the past - that's where this concern came from. But if there's enough interest, we could prioritize finding a solution to the issue. :-)
I think scheduling it with people who can police it wouldn't be a bad idea! It's easy enough to post on the forums and say the chat room is open for business. :) If we had some set times, I'm sure a bunch of us would show up!
I agree. If you maybe put it to the bees and hostess maybe enough of us can be in there. And of course maybe no have it open during non- peak hours. I am sure you know when there are less people on the site.
Love it! I've thought of it numerous times but never had the foresight to submit to Ideas...lol.
Hmmm...maybe you could have designated times for chat rooms? Where you have volunteer chat hostesses?
Just wondering how this idea is coming along. I still really like this idea and know that at times it would be really helpful and fun for us hanging out in the Hive.
There isn't enough interest in this project for it to jump to the top of the list... so it's fairly low on the priority list right now.
This would be fab! I think it would be so nice to connect in real time to some of the other ladies on here...we can sometimes get chats going through threads on the boards, but it just isn't the same! I know I'd use it...probably WAY too much....

I actually think this would be great the same way we do post-a-thons... a scheduled night where we can all chat in real time. It might make the policing a little easier if it's in scheduled chunks.
I definitely like the idea of having as a scheduled thing, like post-a-thons!
