I recently posted a topic in the wrong category and wanted to delete it so I could post it in the correct area...but realized I couldn't delete the error. Am I missing something? As the author of the post I think it would be nice to delete posts I have started and don't need comments anymore on.

I believe the hive hostesses are supposed to take care of re-categorizing anything that's in the wrong part of the boards, but it would be nice to have some control on our end!

agreed!  posters should be able to delete what they post.

or at least re-categorize (although I think deleting would be nice too)

I vote Yes, we should be able to delete your own post

Hive Hostesses can definitely move posts to different forums for you -- so if you have this issue again just PM a hostess and we'd be glad to help!

I think -- and mrbee can probably help more explaining this -- that one of the reasons they dont allow for deleting of posts is so that if there is a topic that gets a lot of responses and the original poster isnt very happy with some of them -- they arent able to  just get rid of the post because they don't want it there. But I do know that if there was a really important reason that you want something deleted (shared too much personal information, or it was hurtful to you in any way, something along those lines) - you can again simply PM one of the Hive Hostesses and we'll push it along to the right person to delete it for you.

I understand what HumarockBride is saying, but still. . .

It's very annoying to keep posting messages in the Support thread to get your things deleted. . .

And at the end, as users we should have the right to manage the information we put online. . .

We may allow deletion on some tabs, like the Gallery, Classifieds, and DIY.  But we probably won't allow deletion on Boards, except by special request in the support forum.

We've been on other boards that allow thread deletion, and it can greatly reduce participation on the boards...  people figure there's no point in commenting on posts (especially if they're controversial in any way) if there's a good chance the entire thread will just be deleted.

That said, we may allow thread deletion even on boards for the first ___ minutes or so after it's posted!  That feels like a good compromise, I hope! :-)

MrBee, I was going to suggest just that - like the first hour of editting, it would be great to have ten minutes to delete a post or comment. :)

How about the ability to delete a post that is over a year or two old?  I now realize the more pictures I post of myself or my wedding, all anonymity is gone.  I might as well post under my real name.  When I first began posting on weddingbee it was more of a vent/crying session to help me get through family/friend/wedding drama.  Now it's become more of a social networking site, and I want to post more pictures, create a bio, etc, but I wish I thought about that before calling people out in some of my threads.

Hey yogigal - I don't think we'd want to offer eternal deletion of board threads as a general feature... but you can always request specific threads be deleted over at support.weddingbee.com!

Thanks Mr. Bee. I didn't know about support.weddingbee.com.

I'd only like the deletion for duplicate posts-sometimes my computer will act weird & won't post, so I post again & then I end up with duplicate posts.

another option would be to only allow for deletion of posts with no replies?

I LOVE the idea of being able to delete classifeds after the item has sold!
